This book, “Governance 5.0: From Reinventing Government to Spiritual Administration,” is a continuation of the intellectual and spiritual journey I began in “The Great Turning Point,” while serving as a visiting professor at Universitas Brawijaya and as a global expert for SmartID in Malang, Indonesia. If the first book was about a personal journey to discover life’s purpose, this book is an attempt to translate that awareness into a more humane and meaningful governance paradigm, primarily focused on the public administration of Indonesia…
This book would not have been possible without the sincere support and collaboration of various parties. I am deeply grateful to Oscar Radyan Danar, S.AP., M.AP., Ph.D.(CEO), Akhmad Amirudin, S.AP., M.AP., M.Pol.Sc., Ph.D (CBO), and Laily Akbariah, S.AP., M.AP (COO) of SmartID for their vision and commitment to advancing the Governance 5.0 paradigm.
I am also very grateful to Prof. Dr. M. R. Khairul Muluk, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Agus Pramusinto, M.Dev.Admin., Dr. Rd. Ahmad Buchari, S.IP., M.Si, the President, and key management of IAPA (Indonesian Association of Public Administration) for providing me with various venues and opportunities to exchange my theoretical ideas at the wonderful academic conferences offered by IAPA. I am also very thankful to Ms. Shinta, Dr. Dasol, Mr.Suhartono, and Mr. Miftah for their energetic support and coordination. Their trust and support provided the space for these ideas to grow and develop.
I extend my special thanks to Ms. Atina Ainun Mardiyah, who has been an extraordinary intellectual dialogue partner throughout the writing of this book. Our reflective discussions on administration, spirituality, and human existence enrich each chapter of this work. Her philosophical sensitivity, incisive writing, and dedication to helping crystallise complex ideas into a coherent narrative mean a great deal to me. She is not only a collaborator, but
also a thinker with an uncanny ability to bridge theory and practice, mind and soul.
I also express my deep appreciation to Mrs. Durratun, Mrs. Gita, Mrs. Lailla and Mr. Dhefara from the CPDS Management Team for their professionalism and dedication in publishing this book in two languages.
I dedicate this book to the Indonesian government, young Indonesian thinkers, and all Indonesians who aspire to a better Indonesia and dare to challenge old paradigms and seek the true meaning of public service. This work can inspire you to become not only efficient administrators but also reflective and spiritual leaders who understand that governance is, in essence, an existential devotion to existence itself.
